Shireland Technology Primary is celebrating a fantastic win in the Asda Foundation Green Token Giving competition, having been awarded a £500 prize!
The funds will be used to establish a new and innovative forestry project on land located opposite the school. The forestry school will provide pupils with a unique and enriching learning environment, where they can explore nature, learn about the natural world and develop valuable outdoor skills. The project is expected to inspire a love of the natural world for generations to come, while also making a positive impact on the local community.
Lady Kirsty Grundy, Principal of Shireland Technology Primary and Primary Lead for Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, said: “Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. We are thrilled that people voted for us in the Asda Green Token Campaign.
“This money will enable us to provide essential resources to launch our Forest School, allowing our children to explore, discover and strengthen their connection to the natural world. The positive social, physical and mental benefits of outdoor learning make this an invaluable learning opportunity and experience. Thank you to everyone who voted for us.”
The Asda Foundation, Asda’s charitable arm, invests £1 million annually into local communities through Green Token Giving, supporting a wide range of good causes across the country.
