Hodder Education and Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust proudly announce the adoption of their pioneering eduu.school online curriculum by all 90 primary schools in the Sandwell LA area, with an aim to improve standards and close the disadvantage gap for young learners in the region. An exceptional example of best practice in curriculum and resource development ‘by teachers, for teachers’ and the public and private sectors working hand in hand.
The eduu.school Primary curriculum, developed over 16 years, builds on Shireland’s proven ‘Excite, Explore, Excel’ Primary curriculum with engaging themes covering all national curriculum content. Eduu.school is a modern, fully coherent and ‘knowledge engaged’ curriculum across the Primary Foundation subjects. Engaging – deliberately intriguing – themes include Amazing Islands, Catastrophe and Mummified. All themes are knowledge rich with clear subject focus.
In a commitment to family engagement, each lesson includes resources to connect classroom learning to learning at home, supported by spectacular resources from children’s publisher What on Earth books, which are now available to Sandwell families.
Additionally, the curriculum broadens children’s horizons by linking every theme to ‘cultural opportunities’ such as listening to music, looking at art, reading poetry and virtual museum visits, opening up new opportunities for every child.
Uniquely, all lessons include an embedded opportunity to explore and support children’s wellbeing, where all work on wellbeing is fully mapped to the DfE’s RSE statutory guidance and National Curriculum topic areas.
Paul Cherry, Director for Policy, Partnerships and UK Sales at Hodder Education, said: “Our work with Shireland – forged in lockdown – has been one of our most exciting and rewarding partnerships.
“We have gained so much in working with Sir Mark Grundy, Lady Kirsty and the amazing Shireland team. We are thrilled to now be working with Sandwell’s primary teachers to help change the lives of more young people through delivering the eduu.school curriculum, raising standards, reducing teacher workload and supporting learners with curriculum content and wellbeing.”
With thousands of resources accessible through the Boost platform from Hodder Education, teachers have the flexibility to deliver lessons ‘out of the box’ or customise them according to their students’ needs. Schools can also easily deliver eduu.school though Boost or their preferred platform, such as Office 365 or Google Classroom.
Sir Mark Grundy, CEO of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, said: “As a Multi-Academy Trust serving our part of the West Midlands, we have always believed that one of our key roles should be to help our students in and out of school as much as we can, and reduce work pressures on our staff.
“A key solution has been the development of our on-line curriculum, and this has served us very well. Working with the team at Hodder Education has taken this to a completely new level. Their support on quality assuring our resources and refining how they are delivered via the Boost platform has been a game changer!’
This initiative marks a transformative opportunity across the first 90 schools.
