Secondary students across Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust are celebrating today after receiving their eagerly awaited GCSE results, which are opening doors to the next steps in their educational journeys, whether that be A level or vocational courses at college, sixth form, or in an apprenticeship.
Shireland Collegiate Academy
Overall, 69% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, with Grade 4 set by the government as a pass. 94% of students achieved five GCSE passes, with 81% of students achieving a pass in English and 71% in Maths. Additionally, over 50% of students attained a Grade 7 or higher in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Performances were particularly strong in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science with fabulous performance also in Art, Religious Studies and Health and Social Care.

These results have been a culmination of years of hard work, not only from our students but also dedicated staff, whose support has been instrumental in our students’ success today.
“We take great pride in the achievements of our exceptional student’s and on behalf of everyone here at the Academy, I wish them all great success in their future endeavours knowing that they leave Shireland with the skills, confidence and qualifications to secure a bright future.”
In addition to the Academy’s continued success, individual highlights include Jacob, who earned six Grade 9’s, one Grade 8 and one Grade 7, with Neelofar achieving six Grade 9’s and two Grade 7’s. Fatu secured five Grade 9’s, three Grade 8’s, one Grade 7 and a Distinction Star, with Zayd also attaining five Grade 9’s, two Grade 8’s and two Distinctions and Testimony achieving four Grade 9’s, two Grade 8’s, one Grade 7 and one Distinction Star.
Thorns Collegiate Academy
As well as being a time for celebrating the achievements of its Year 11 students, it is also a day of reflection as the school community also comes together to honour the memory of Tyrese Johnson, who tragically passed away in July.
A book of condolence is open at the Academy, offering a space for students, staff and community members to express their sympathy and pay tribute to Tyrese.
Principal, Nikki Jones, said: “Today is a day of both pride and reflection for Thorns Collegiate Academy. We are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements, which are the results of their relentless efforts and support of our staff. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all our students for their future endeavours.
“As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also remember Tyrese, whose absence is deeply felt in our community. We will continue to honour his memory by ensuring that we continue to support our students, staff and the wider community during this time of remembrance and beyond.”
Overall, 90% of students achieved five or more GCSEs or equivalent passes, with Grade 5 set by the government as a strong pass. Nearly 10% of the grades awarded were in the range of grades 7 – 9, with a total of 46 Grade 9 or Level 2 Distinction* awarded, the highest grade possible. In English, just under a quarter of students achieved grades 7 to 9, which is a continuation of the excellent results in this subject.
West Bromwich Collegiate Academy
Today marks a significant milestone as the Academy’s first GCSE cohort receives their results, opening doors to the next steps in their education, whether that be A level or vocational courses at college, sixth form or in apprenticeships.
Principal, George Faux, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their accomplishments in what is a landmark year for our Academy. As our first ever Year 11 cohort, they have set a high standard for future students, which is a testament to their hard work and dedication to their learning. This also reflects the unwavering commitment of our staff, whose support has been instrumental in guiding our students to success.
“It has been a privilege to witness our students not only excel academically but also grow into outstanding members of our community. On behalf of everyone at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy, I wish them every success and happiness for their future endeavours.”
The results highlight particularly strong performances across several key subjects, where students excelled particularly in English, Biology, History, Art and Religious Studies. A number of students also went on to achieve exceptional outcomes, attaining multiple grades at 8 and 9.
Student highlights include Arun, who achieved an impressive grade 9 in History alongside six grade 8s. Niah excelled with a grade 9 in both English and Biology in addition to three grade 8s, with Sunny also celebrating success after achieving grade 7s or above across the board, including two grade 9s. Tony exceeded expectations, achieving two grade 9s, two grade 8s, and three grade 7s,with Armonie showcasing their expertise after earning top grades in French and Italian.
