Pride Across the Trust as Students Receive GCSE Results

Students across Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust are celebrating today after receiving their long-awaited GCSE results, marking a proud milestone in their educational journey.

These achievements reflect not only the determination and resilience of learners but also the dedication and support of teachers, families, and the wider community. The results open doors to exciting next step – whether that’s A levels, vocational studies at sixth form or college, or starting an apprenticeship – setting students on course for bright futures.

Shireland Collegiate Academy

This year, 60% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English – the government’s benchmark for a pass – while 10% earned top grades of 9 to 7, showcasing exceptional achievement. 97% of students achieved five GCSE passes, with 77% of students achieving a pass in English and 63% in Maths.

Performances were particularly strong in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, and Sport, where over 25% of students achieved a Grade 7 – 9; demonstrating the strengths and diverse talents of students.  

Thorns Collegiate Academy

Students at Thorns Collegiate Academy have achieved the highest percentage of grade 5+ in English and mathematics since joining Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust in 2017.  

A total of 126 grades have been awarded at or above a grade 7, with 27% of students achieving this in their English qualifications. 

Additionally, 90% of year 11 students completed at least 8 GCSE or BTEC qualifications across a broad range of 22 subjects, reflecting the diverse opportunities available at Thorns Collegiate Academy.   

Performances were particularly strong in English Language, English Literature, Performing Arts and Design Technology.

West Bromwich Collegiate Academy

61% of students at the Academy achieved a Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English – the government’s benchmark for a pass – while 14% of students earned at least 5 top grades of 9 to 7, showcasing exceptional achievement.  

Additionally, 93% of year 11 students completed at least 8 GCSE or equivalent qualifications, and 82% completed at least 9 GCSE or equivalent qualifications across a broad range of 25 subjects, reflecting the diverse opportunities available at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy.

Performances were particularly strong in separate Science, Performance, Art and Design, English Literature, History and Home Languages, highlighting the strengths of this year’s cohort.
