Academies across Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust came together this week to mark Remembrance Day, pausing to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces, past and present. Students and staff reflected on the values that underpin their service – courage, compassion, and hope – and the lessons these offer for everyday life.
Across the Trust, academies observed the national two-minute silence and held assemblies exploring the significance of the day and the enduring importance of freedom, respect and unity.
From nurseries and primary to secondary academies, students engaged in a range of creative and reflective activities, including the planting of poppy seeds and designing moving displays to honour those who served. Poppies were also sold to support the Royal British Legion, giving learners a tangible way to contribute while connecting with the day’s poignant meaning.
These activities allowed the Trust community to mark Remembrance Day with thoughtfulness and respect, ensuring that the sacrifices of the past, and the principles they defended, continue to be remembered.
