Academy gymnast qualifies for national trampoline finals

Shireland Collegiate Academy celebrated a standout achievement as student Danika secured third place in the Elite category at the British Schools Central Zonal Trampoline Competition in Penarth earlier this year.

Successfully completing both her routines, Danika has now qualified for the national finals in March, putting her among the country’s top school gymnasts.

The competition, hosted by the British Schools Gymnastics Association (BSGA), encourages participation across all gymnastics disciplines for students of all abilities. Working alongside national bodies including British Gymnastics, the association provides pathways for beginners and elite athletes alike, promoting not only physical skill but confidence, focus and resilience in young people.

This latest success builds on a strong performance at the West Midlands Championships in November last year, where Danika was joint first after her opening routine and went on to finish second overall, securing the title of West Midlands Champion in her category.

Thomas Daly, Principal at Shireland Collegiate Academy, commented: “We are incredibly proud of Danika. Securing a podium finish at a zonal competition is a remarkable achievement, and it reflects her skill, focus and commitment. We wish Danika every success as she progresses to the national finals and look forward to seeing how her journey continues.”

Danika’s achievement highlights the attitude to sport nurtured at Shireland Collegiate Academy, where students are encouraged to explore new opportunities, develop resilience and approach challenges with confidence. Her success at the competition serves as an example of how a positive mindset and dedication can translate into real accomplishment, inspiring others across the school community.
