Local police officers visited Lightwoods Primary Academy in Oldbury to deliver an interactive assembly on internet safety. Pupils learned how to recognise potentially unsafe situations, behave responsibly online, and know where to seek help or access trusted resources.
The session went beyond simply explaining the risks of cyberbullying, unsafe websites, or sharing personal information. Through engaging discussions and practical activities, pupils were encouraged to think critically about their online behaviour and understand the long-term importance of digital responsibility.
Associate Principal, John Ashton, said: “Online safety and understanding how to use digital tools safely isn’t just a lesson for today, it’s an essential skill for children who are growing up in an increasingly digital world.
“Young people are spending more time online than ever before, and this workshop gave them essential knowledge and tools to spot risks early, seek help, and make thoughtful choices. It’s about building their confidence and awareness now so they can navigate the digital world safely as they grow.”
The visit reflected Lightwoods Primary Academy’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding and preparing pupils for life both inside and outside the classroom, giving them the tools and confidence to navigate the digital world safely.
