Wallbrook Primary Academy welcomed the NSPCC to deliver its national ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme. The initiative gave pupils practical knowledge on how to identify unsafe situations, understand their rights to be safe, and how to access support from trusted adults or resources such as Childline.
The NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity, has been working to stop child abuse and neglect for over 140 years. It is the only UK children’s charity with statutory powers, meaning it can take action to safeguard children at risk.
Pupils engaged in a series of classroom workshops which formed part of a national programme supporting primary schools, home educators and alternative provision providers. The NSPCC team commended Wallbrook pupils for their strong understanding of safeguarding and active participation throughout the sessions.
Lorna McGregor, Principal at Wallbrook Primary Academy, said: “Our pupils’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at our Academy, and these workshops are part of our ongoing commitment to proactive safeguarding.
“By giving our children practical skills and guidance, we help them feel secure, supported, and ready to make safe choices both in and out of school.”
The workshops are part of the Academy’s wider approach to fostering a safe and nurturing environment, where pupils are encouraged to grow with confidence and resilience. By embedding safeguarding education into everyday learning, the school continues to empower its pupils to thrive academically, socially and personally.
