Trust schools join nationwide campaign to help break UK birthday card record

Pupils at Wallbrook Primary Academy and Wednesfield Technology Primary have joined communities across the UK to support seven-year-old Amelia Kolpa from Rowley Regis in the Black Country.

Amelia, who has been receiving intensive treatment and care for neuroblastoma, is hoping to break the UK record for the most birthday cards received for her eighth birthday in March. Her story has captured the heart of local communities.

At Wednesfield Technology Primary, pupils wrote 200 birthday cards for Amelia, made possible thanks to a donation of cards from local business Party Angels in Wednesfield. Meanwhile, pupils at Wallbrook Primary Academy created and decorated their own cards, which were collected from Artisan Espresso Bar as part of the national campaign.

Lorna McGregor, Principal at Wallbrook Primary Academy, commented: “Stories like Amelia’s remind us that even small acts of kindness can make a real difference. By creating these cards, our children continue to learn about the power of empathy, the importance of supporting others, and the joy of coming together as a community. We hope that these messages of care and encouragement help make Amelia’s birthday extra special.”

Claire Keeler, Principal at Wednesfield Technology Primary, added: “It was the generosity of some of our families and a local business that became the catalyst for a day where pupils enjoyed writing cards and putting their care into each one, thinking of Amelia and what might bring her a smile. We hope these messages help to brighten her birthday.”

Families and members of the community who would like to take part can send birthday cards for Amelia to one of the following collection points:

  • Highfield Primary School, Beeches Road, Rowley Regis, B65 0DA
  • Leasowes High School, Kent Road, Halesowen, B62 8PJ
  • Artisan Espresso Bar, 168 Halesowen Street, Blackheath, Rowley Regis, B65 0ES
  • Fairfield Inn, Fairfield Road, Hurst Green, Halesowen, B62 9JA

The ‘Cards for Amelia’ campaign continues to unite schools, businesses and families across the UK, showing how small acts of kindness can make a real difference.
