Primary science leads and Key Stage 2 teachers are invited to take part in a free day of professional development focused on improving the teaching of light and sound.
Taking place on Wednesday 10 June, 9:30am to 3:30pm at the Shireland Training Centre, Oldbury, B68 9ER, this CPD event is being run by The Ogden Trust and will support teachers to strengthen subject knowledge, refine classroom practice and improve pupil understanding in primary physics.
The day is designed for primary science subject leads and teachers delivering light or sound in KS2. It will explore purposeful practical work and effective pedagogical approaches, underpinned by EEF recommendations.
Participants will take part in four focused workshops, each aimed at developing practical strategies that can be applied directly in the classroom:
- Identifying and addressing misconceptions in pupils’ understanding of light and sound
- Building and embedding subject-specific vocabulary across KS2 topics
- Ensuring practical enquiries are purposeful learning opportunities
- Adapting and scaffolding learning to improve accessibility and real-world relevance
The sessions are designed to be interactive and classroom-focused, giving teachers the opportunity to reflect on current practice and leave with approaches ready to use.
This event offers a valuable opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, deepen subject expertise and support improved outcomes in primary science.
