Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form has launched its first-ever Bursary Shop, providing eligible students with free revision guides, textbooks, stationery and essential study resources to support them as they begin their A level and vocational studies.
The initiative was launched during a welcome event for the Academy’s new year 12 students and their families, helping to prepare students for the transition from GCSEs to post-16 education and ensuring they have access to the resources and guidance needed to succeed.
The Bursary Shop provides eligible students with materials to support independent study and revision, helping to reduce financial barriers and ensuring they have access to essential resources for their chosen subjects.
Jo Lawrence, Head of Sixth Form at Shireland Biomedical UTC, said: “We want every student to feel confident, supported and equipped to make the most of their time with us. The transition to A levels brings new expectations, particularly around independent study, and having the right resources can make a real difference.
“Our Bursary Shop is about making sure eligible students can access the materials they need without financial circumstances becoming an additional barrier. We’re committed to helping every student recognise their potential and giving them the support and opportunities to work towards their ambitions.”
The launch marked a practical step in Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form’s commitment to widening access to learning resources and giving students the support they need to pursue their academic ambitions.
Applications for year 12 entry to Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form in September 2027 are now open. For further information and to apply, visit the Academy’s website.
