Peter Johnson
Trustee
Peter has over 50 years’ experience of working in education. He has been a teacher, headteacher, an assistant director/chief adviser of a large shire local authority, an inspector with OFSTED and an adviser with the Department for Education. From 2004 to 2024 he ran his own education consultancy company providing school improvement advice and consultancy to secondary and special schools.

Peter’s association with Shireland started in September 2007 when he was appointed as the DfE’s school improvement partner to the Academy; a role he fulfilled until retirement in 2024. From 2020 to 2024 he was also school improvement partner to the Trust’s other secondary academies.
Throughout his career, Peter has been committed to fully inclusive education and the creation of high-quality education for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
