Thomas has dedicated more than 15 years to working in schools across Sandwell, with a strong focus on pastoral care, behaviour and attendance. His leadership has contributed to Shireland Collegiate Academy achieving Outstanding judgements in a number of areas during its most recent Ofsted inspection. He is also proud that the Academy was selected as one of only 90 Lead Schools for the Department for Education’s Attendance and Behaviour Hub Programme, recognising the strength of the school’s work in these areas. In addition, Thomas is a Specialist Leader in Education for Behaviour and Attendance.

He holds an English degree from the University of Wolverhampton and began his career teaching English before discovering a passion for pastoral leadership. Throughout his career, Thomas has remained committed to ensuring that every school he works in maintains the highest expectations for young people, believing that these expectations are fundamental to achieving strong academic outcomes.

Thomas is particularly proud of the inclusive culture at Shireland Collegiate Academy. He believes the school truly represents and serves its diverse local community, creating an environment where all students and staff feel valued and supported. His approach centres on embedding respect, belonging and high expectations into everyday school life. Through inclusive curriculum design, strong relationships with families, consistent pastoral support, staff wellbeing initiatives, and the careful use of data to identify and respond to need, Thomas works to ensure inclusion is experienced by everyone across the Academy’s community.

Outside of school, Thomas enjoys spending time with his family and friends and has a strong passion for sport.
