World-Class Opera Singer Visits Shireland CBSO Academy

Students at Shireland CBSO Academy welcomed internationally renowned opera singer Jennifer France for a special visit that offered a rare insight into life as a professional musician and performer.

France, who regularly performs with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and enjoys a distinguished career in the UK and abroad, worked closely with the Academy’s young vocalists. She shared her experiences of building a career in music, offering practical advice on discipline and resilience, before leading a series of technical exercises designed to help students develop their vocal skills.

The visit gave students the opportunity to learn directly from a world-class performer and to gain a deeper understanding of the dedication and craft required to succeed in the music industry.

David Green, Principal at Shireland CBSO Academy, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Jennifer France to our Academy. For our students, it’s one thing to learn about music in the classroom, but seeing a professional at work really brings it to life.

“By showing what a career in music can look like, and offering practical advice on how to get started, Jennifer gave our students a realistic view of what it takes to succeed.”

The Academy continues to place a strong emphasis on providing students with access to leading professionals from the arts, ensuring they are inspired, challenged and supported to develop their talents, skills and ambitions.
