Shireland Technology Primary has announced the appointment of Mr Andy Collins as its Principal, marking an exciting new chapter for the Academy while ensuring continuity of leadership for pupils, families and staff.
Mr Collins, who is currently Associate Principal, has been part of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust for 15 years and has played a significant role in the Academy’s development and success. Having previously served as Deputy Principal alongside founding Principal Lady Kirsty Grundy, he brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the school and its community.
His appointment represents a natural progression in the Academy’s leadership, building on the strong foundations established since its opening and ensuring that the school’s distinctive approach to education continues to flourish.
At the heart of this approach is the Academy’s Excite, Explore, Excel curriculum, which encourages children to develop their curiosity, discover new opportunities and achieve their very best. Mr Collins will continue to champion this ethos, alongside the high expectations, supportive environment and strong relationships with families that have become central to the Academy’s identity.

The appointment also marks a formal transition in leadership from Lady Kirsty Grundy, who founded the Academy and has continued to oversee its development alongside her wider responsibilities. Lady Kirsty will remain closely connected to the school through her roles as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Trust Primary Director.
