Dance students from Shireland Collegiate Academy celebrated success at the Encore Wiltshire Dance Competition in Swindon earlier this month, securing two podium finishes in the team categories and further top four placings in the solo and duo competitions.
Team Echo took second place with Gospel Truth, while Team Surge finished third with Signal. In the solo categories, student Chichi placed third in commercial dance and Nefeli finished fourth in contemporary. Both students also secured fourth place in the musical theatre duo category.
The results reflected a strong showing from the Shireland dancers, who competed against performers from other schools and organisations across a range of dance styles.
School Principal, Thomas Daly, said: “We always aspire for Shireland to be a place where students are encouraged to pursue their interests, challenge themselves and make the most of the opportunities available to them. Competitions like Encore give students the chance to put their skills to the test, build confidence and experience what it means to work towards a shared goal.
“Our dancers achieved some excellent results, and it was equally encouraging to see the pride they took in representing the school and the support they showed one another. That’s what makes these experiences so worthwhile for our students.”
Encore Wiltshire is part of the United Dance Organisation’s programme of regional dance events, which bring together performers of different ages and abilities for competitions, workshops and showcases. The Swindon event was an official qualifier for the UDO British Dance Festival 2027 and the UDO Encore World Championships 2026.
