West Bromwich Collegiate Academy student carries Commonwealth Games baton

It’s a very special day in Sandwell today as the Commonwealth Games baton relay passes through the area, and very close to several of our academies.

It’s an even more memorable day for one of our students, Alfie Kinsell from West Bromwich Collegiate Academy, who was chosen to be one of the Sandwell School Baton Bearers asked to carry the baton on its way to the opening ceremony of the games.

12-year-old Alfie is sports-mad and was nominated for his meaningful contribution to sport and PE at school. He will carry the baton this afternoon on a short section of Spon Lane in West Bromwich, close to his secondary school.

Well done and good luck Alfie!
