Newfield Park Primary Academy received a generous donation of fabric materials from OB&B, a British furniture design and manufacturing company in Dudley known for its commitment to craftsmanship, durability and design.
A representative from OB&B visited the school to deliver a selection of fabric offcuts intended to inspire creativity and exploration among pupils. The resources were warmly received and quickly put to use across the Academy.
In Art and Design Technology lessons across different year groups, pupils explored texture and pattern through collage work and investigated the properties and suitability of different materials within design tasks. The donation supported hands-on, practical learning, encouraging pupils to experiment creatively with professional-grade materials in meaningful contexts.
School Principal, Steve Payne, commented: “At Newfield, we aim to make learning as real and practical as possible so children can see how their ideas connect to the world around them. Having access to materials like this has supported that approach very well, giving pupils the chance to explore and understand that design involves experimenting, problem-solving and improving ideas as you go.”
OB&B is a British furniture design and manufacturing company with a strong focus on craftsmanship, durability and thoughtful use of materials. The business brings together a skilled team of designers and makers, including upholsterers, sewers, joiners and cabinet makers, who work collaboratively to produce high-quality, bespoke furniture. Alongside its core work, the company also seeks to reduce waste by repurposing offcuts and surplus materials, including those donated to the school to support creative learning.
The collaboration reflects Newfield Park Primary Academy’s ongoing commitment to working with local organisations to enrich its curriculum. These partnerships help provide pupils with real-world industry insights and experiences, while also supporting sustainability through the reuse of quality materials.
