Faye at Thorns Collegiate Academy has been crowned Under 38kg champion at the England Boxing National Schools Championships in Newcastle following a series of standout performances.
She progressed confidently through the competition, securing victory in the semi-final before delivering a knockout performance in the final, winning 5–0 on points.
As a result of Faye’s success, she has been invited to train with England Boxing and selected to represent England at the Four Nations competition, where she will compete against boxers from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
During the Championships, she also met former world and British heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, one of the leading figures in modern British boxing. Dubois, who became the youngest British heavyweight world champion at the age of 21, has held multiple major titles during his career, including the IBF heavyweight championship and previously the WBA heavyweight title, and is widely recognised for his role in the continued strength of British boxing on the global stage.
Nikki Jones, Principal at Thorns Collegiate Academy, said: “This is an incredible achievement for Faye and a real moment of pride for our school community. To become national champion at this level takes discipline, consistency and real commitment over a long period of time, and it’s brilliant to see her hard work rewarded on such a significant stage.
“Everyone at Thorns is right behind her as she prepares for the Four Nations competition. She has set a high standard for others to aspire to, and we are excited to see what she achieves next.”
The England Boxing National Schools Championships is a major development competition for school-aged boxers aged 12 to 14. It brings together athletes from across the country and is overseen by England Boxing, the national governing body for the sport, which supports more than 1,000 affiliated clubs and over 35,000 members nationwide.
