A pupil from Lightwoods Primary Academy has returned from the Dance World Cup in Dublin with four medals, including two silver and two bronze.
Arriah competed against young dancers from 73 countries at the international competition, which was held at The Convention Centre Dublin in July earlier this year. The event brought together more than 120,000 competitors and is regarded as the world’s largest all-genre dance competition for children and young adults.
Arriah secured second place in the Mini Group Acro category, which combines dance and acrobatic movement, with Conga. She followed this with another silver medal in the Small Group Jazz category for Puppet on a String, a group performance combining jazz dance with theatrical elements.
She also claimed bronze in the Trio Acro category for 3 Little Maids and the Small Group Acro category for Wizard of Oz.
Rounding off a successful competition, Arriah finished eighth in the Duet Showstopper category, which brings together dance and performance skills in a two-person routine.
Associate Principal, John Ashton, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Arriah’s achievements. Competing at this level takes real commitment and confidence, and to see her take that onto an international stage is a fantastic achievement. It’s also a great example of how pursuing a passion can help children build the resilience and self-belief they need in all areas of their lives.”
Arriah’s success has been celebrated across Lightwoods Primary Academy, with the school now looking forward to seeing her continue to develop her talent and achieve more as her dancing career progresses.
