Wallbrook Primary Academy was proud to announce that it had become a Purple Mash Pioneer School, recognising the Academy’s creative and forward-thinking use of digital learning tools to support pupils across the curriculum.
Purple Mash, created by 2Simple, is a popular online learning platform used by primary schools across the UK. It includes a wide range of interactive resources for computing, maths, English, science, art, coding and cross-curricular learning. Schools value Purple Mash because it helps pupils build digital confidence while supporting key curriculum skills.
The Academy has been using Purple Mash for over two years. The opportunity began after staff attended a Purple Mash Roadshow and spoke with Chief Operating Officer at 2Simple, Dawn Hallybone, about how the platform could benefit the school. Since then, Purple Mash has become an important part of everyday learning at Wallbrook Primary Academy.
Teachers use weekly ‘2Dos’ for home learning, giving pupils engaging tasks they can complete both at home and in school. Purple Mash plays an important role in supporting remote learning at the Academy, helping pupils continue accessing high-quality lessons when they are unable to be in the classroom.
Beyond home and remote learning, the platform supports the Academy’s E3L (Excite, Explore, Excel) and computing curriculums, giving pupils the tools to explore topics independently and creatively. Staff have used Purple Mash to create a new assessment system using its AI quiz function, which tracks learners’ progress through E3L. The school’s use of the platform also extends to reading and writing, with its library and linked texts helping pupils make stronger connections across subjects, while writing templates support the development of clear and structured written work.
School Principal, Lorna McGregor, said: “Purple Mash has made a real difference to the way our pupils engage with their learning. It gives children the opportunity to explore new ideas, practise important skills and be creative in a way that feels enjoyable and purposeful. Our staff value how flexible the platform is and how it helps us understand pupils’ progress better, allowing us to provide the right level of support and challenge.
