Students from West Bromwich Collegiate Academy and Shireland Collegiate Academy went on a joint Travel and Tourism coursework trip to Cardiff, giving them the chance to experience some of the city’s most notable attractions first-hand.
Highlights of the visit included exploring the historic Cardiff Castle, discovering Wales’ culture and heritage at the National Museum of Wales, and the regenerated waterfront at Cardiff Bay. The trip allowed students to see tourism in action and understand how key attractions attract and engage visitors.
George Faux, Executive Principal at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy, said: “Experiences like this give students the opportunity to see tourism in the real world and make connections between theory and practice. It also helps broaden their horizons and deepen cultural understanding”
Thomas Daly, Principal at Shireland Collegiate Academy, commented: “Visiting Cardiff allowed our students to take their learning outside the classroom, encouraging them to immerse themselves in new places with curiosity and confidence. Experiences like this help them develop enthusiasm for exploration and a deeper appreciation of the wider world around them, skills that will benefits their studies and futures.”
The trip provided students with a practical perspective on how attractions operate successfully to create memorable experiences for visitors while supporting local economy, cultural and environmental conservation. It enabled them to apply classroom learning in real-world settings while building skills that will support both their studies and career ambitions.
Both academies continually seek to provide experiences that enhance students’ education and looks forward to offering similar opportunities in the future.
