Shireland Sixth Form celebrates outstanding results with 53% of grades at A/A or Distinction/Distinction*

Sixth Form students at Shireland Collegiate Academy in Smethwick are celebrating their A level results today, as they reflect on their achievements and prepare to follow a wide range of pathways into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.

Families, staff and the wider Academy community came together to share in learners’ achievements, recognising the hard work and commitment that have shaped their post-16 experience.

53% of all grades were A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction, demonstrating the exceptional dedication and achievement across Sixth Form; this is up 10% on last year’s outcomes.

Performances were strong across a broad range of subjects, with particular highlights in History, Religious Studies, Geography and Further Maths. Across all subjects, students achieved a 100% A*-C pass rate, reflecting the breadth and consistency of achievement across the Academy. The Academy also saw excellent outcomes in Home Languages, with particularly strong results in Urdu, Italian and Punjabi.

There is also much to celebrate for the Academy’s vocational subjects, with 92% of students in all subjects achieving a Merit, Distinction or Distinction* grade.

Level 2 provision has also been great this year, with 81% of students achieving at least one Distinction grade, and 33% achieving two or more. The Academy is incredibly proud of these students and remains committed to providing a wide range of pathways to support the needs and aspirations of all learners within its school community.

Thomas Daly, Principal at Shireland Collegiate Academy, said: “Today is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate our students’ achievements. Behind every result is a story of hard work and personal growth, reflecting the commitment our students have shown throughout their time with us.

“We’re incredibly proud of the young people they have become during their time at Shireland. We wish them every success as they move on to the next stage of their lives and look forward to seeing all that they go on to achieve. I would also like to thank our staff for the care, encouragement and dedication they have shown in supporting our students, as well as our families for the important role they have played throughout their journey.

Sir Mark Grundy, CEO of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, commented: “On behalf of the Trust, I want to congratulate all our students at Shireland Collegiate Academy on their A level results. Their commitment, perseverance and ambition throughout their studies are qualities they should be incredibly proud of.

“At the heart of our Trust is a belief that every young person deserves access to a high-quality education, and the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to thrive and fulfil their potential. This is made possible through the dedication of our staff and the ambition shown by our students every day. We wish all our students the very best as they take their next steps and look forward to seeing the many achievements that lie ahead.”
