A level success opens doors for Shireland Biomedical UTC students

Sixth form students at Shireland Biomedical UTC in West Bromwich are celebrating their A level results today, marking an important milestone as they prepare to take their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.

Families, staff and the wider Academy community came together to share in learners’ achievements, recognising the hard work and commitment that have shaped their post-16 experience.

Gulfam Shazad, Principal at Shireland Biomedical UTC, said: “Results day is a special moment in the life of any school, and it is a privilege to celebrate alongside our students, their families and our wider Academy community as they reflect on everything they have achieved. We are immensely proud of the young people who have completed their studies with us. Their ambition, resilience and commitment have been inspiring to see, and it has been wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they have developed the skills and experiences needed to take their next steps.

“I would like to thank our dedicated staff team and the families who have supported our students throughout their journey. We wish every one of our leavers the very best for the future and look forward to seeing the exciting paths they go on to follow.”

Strong performances were recorded across a broad range of subjects, with particularly notable results in vocational subjects including Health & Social Care and Applied Science, where more than 50% of students achieved a Distinction or higher. A number of academic subjects also recorded 100% pass rates, highlighting the diverse range of talents and achievements across the Academy.

Vocational courses also achieved a 100% overall pass rate, with all students progressing to their chosen post-18 destinations. These included Pharmacy, Nursing, Teaching, Paramedic Science, Psychology and Neuroscience, while some students also secured apprenticeships in the healthcare and education sectors.

Sir Mark Grundy, CEO of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, commented: “On behalf of the Trust, I want to congratulate all our students at Shireland Biomedical UTC on their A level results. Their achievements are a reflection of the hard work, perseverance and commitment they have shown throughout their time at the Academy.

“At the heart of our Trust is a belief that every young person deserves access to a high-quality education, and the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to thrive and fulfil their potential. This is made possible through the dedication of our staff and the ambition shown by our students every day. We wish all our students the very best as they move on to their next steps and look forward to following their continued success.”
